This semester I’ve registered the Information and Communication Technology in Science (SSI 3013) course which is conducted by Associate Professor Dr Sopia Md Yassin. Dr Sofia conducts the lecture class and with help Cik Suziati Ibrahim that conduct during practical season. Actually, I’m very excited to learn about this course because it is different with other course that i’ve taken. We need to learn about new software and stuff like Interactive White Board (IWB), data logging, simulation and modelling, and E-Portfolio. I’m very lucky when take this course because it helps me in learning new technologies.

For the first practical class, we were introduced with interactive white board (IWB). We learned on how to use it and try to use it on our owned. We also need to use it for our presentation throughout the semester. I feel that it is very interactive if I can use it during teaching later as students can also involve in teaching and learning process by using IWB.

In this course also, everyone must have their own E-portfolio which is an educational blog. Here, we can stored our document and assignment and arranged it for long term.  It will help my future student in teaching and learning process as according to our government to have a techno-student in the future.

We also learn to use data logging. As a science teacher, data logging is the best in doing experiment rather than to use the traditional way. It can save time and make detect precise data. There are lot of sensor in data logging that can be used such temperature, pH, pressure and humidity. The results of experiment can generate graph at the same time which very advantage in teaching and learning process as teachers can ask students prediction on the graph.

Another one is simulation and modeling. It is very useful in helps students understand on process in science. We can also change the variable in modeling while asking students prediction. Simulation helps in simulate experiment which cannot be done in laboratory which are too lengthy or dangerous. Thus, I think it can help students to have critical thinking in teaching and learning process.
